DESCRIPTION:Peninsula resident Joan Davidson and Amy Kalish\, President of Wake Up California*\, are hosting a screening of the film “Small is Beautiful” on Friday\, May 15th\, from 6:30 to 8pm\, at Hesse Park.\n\n All Palos Verdes residents are encouraged to attend!\n\n The film is a compelling 25-minute documentary by an award-winning filmmaker about a rural Sonoma Valley community’s fight against a massive development that threatens wildlife corridors and the community’s way of life. It highlights how state housing mandates override local environmental controls and the potential catastrophic consequences of large-scale development in fire-prone landscapes.\n\n The film offers lessons that can be applied to large developments proposed on the Peninsula.\n\nSee the  trailer at https://youtu.be/FEmx-hYybEg.\n\nFollowing the film\, Wake Up California will lead a discussion and Q&A with Peninsula elected officials on how to use existing (mandatory) minimum fire safe regulations to limit development in fire-prone landscapes.\n\nSee you on Friday\, May 15th\, at 6:30pm at Hesse Park!
